Now something has come to my attention lately (probably been there for a while, but I never noticed it). It's basically all those folks out there that like to think of themselves as intelligent, classy and sophisticated folk - and yet they are Australian. I don't know about you, but when I think of the stereotypical Aussie, I don't think of anything even close to being sophisticated. Our naturally laid back nature prevents it. The stereotypical Aussie bloke is just as Chris Franklin described PERFECTLY. And you know what? I wouldn't have Aussie men any other way.
All this shit about sensitive new age men -we are turning our men into pounces, and soon we won't have any real men left. Women will be left to run the world and then we will all be doomed. These men are a dying breed.
I don't like men that cry in a movie when a dog gets lost in a big city - seriously! I like my men to be somewhat clean shaven, but still show that they have MANY ounces of testosterone left in them; and be able to stand their ground when challenged verbally or physically; and aren't afraid to speak their mind to anyone, whether it be some homeless guy in the gutter, or the Queen Of England. There are a few of these men left with a "celebrity status" - Chris Franklin (obviously), Sam Newman, Chris Wainhouse, Angry Anderson, and Jimmy Barnes.
Having said that - I must get to the real point of why I am saying this. Recently I have noticed that the points I mentioned above that denote a true man have come under fire from many critics who say that behaviour like that is outdated and "politically incorrect". Well.....
I defend these men because they stand for things (whether they know it or not) that may seem outdated to many, but they are in essence what Australia is truly about. Being able to poke fun and laugh at anything you fancy, without being so uptight and worried that someone might criticise you. I happened to witness a perfect example of this recently. I was fortunate enough to be able to watch Chris Wainhouse, at what others may deem a failure - but I loved every minute of it. He continued to clearly offend many in the room with his humour - but what they were forgetting was to relax and take a look at the funnier side of situations that are considered "no-go" zones.
I admire him for standing up for his beliefs when he was questioned by a few women in the crowd. This is how we should all be. Proud to stand up for our opinions and not let anyone else be able to dictate what is and isn't appropriate for today's society to read, watch, speak and even think.
Another example was when Sam Newman was spat on by a soccer supporter in Munich during the World Cup. Clearly this was a disgraceful act on the soccer fanatics behalf - but what was focussed on, was not the initial act of degradation, but was Sam's reaction - he punched the guy square in the face. Now, if that were me I would not stand by and allow some half wit hooligan humiliate me in front of anyone. Although, I also believe that I would not have physically abused him - just verbally.
My interpretation of what went down was that Sam acted on impulse - which is usually the was he works. But todays society is trying to get everyone to think as one mind and not dare to push the boundaries, and to especially not think for yourself. Watching Sam, in general, he seems to think and act how most people wish they could - if only they had the guts to.
I was disgusted to find this on a random blog:
A TV station so out of touch with its viewers is surely on a downward spiral....maybe they need to do another reshuffle...how about a new show starring Sam Newman, Shane Warne. It would be about whatever was popular at the moment. Warney could do segments about womens issues like fashion and "getting breast implants.
Sam Newman could go up to ethnic people in the street and ask them obscure sports questions. It will be hilarious, espicially if those ethnics dont know the answers....what do ya reckon, its GOLD!!!

She is a perfect example of the type of Aussie that is becoming "un-Australian". In my opinion, these women are the one's that give the rest of us a bad name - they rely far too much on being an "enlightened" new age woman, instead of being an individual. I don't care much for her opinions - because they are unjustified. If she could demonstrate a good reason as to why these men are outdated in their style and personality, then maybe I would listen. To attack a group of people based on their attitudes and actions is one thing, but to single a few out and bag the shit out of them for something so trivial - is not even worth the manicured nails they type with.
Frankly, thats all the time I care to spend talking about such a person.
